What’s included in our Level 5 Award in Online and Phone Practice course?

Your lessons are designed so they are interactive with group discussions, skills practice, and case studies. Throughout this course, you will explore the world of online and phone counselling practice, have group supervision and explore the safeguarding aspects of remote therapy.

This qualification will enable successful candidates to work as online and phone counsellors in a range of job and career opportunities, which include but are not limited to: An online and phone Counsellor in private practice or agency settings. The candidate may choose to diversify into the area of teaching counselling (including online delivery) within an FE or HE context, providing they hold suitable teaching experience or qualifications.

This course is in association with the Open University and CPCAB. Therefore, before commencing attendance at the online course with us, you will need to complete the following Open University courses:

  • Online Counselling, Advance your Knowledge

Awarding Body

The Counselling And Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) is a specialised awarding body managed by professional practitioners, supervisors, trainers, etc. It is the UK’s biggest provider of counselling qualifications, in which there are 130 recognised training centres in the UK with 10,000 candidates registered annually.

Ethical Framework

The BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in the Counselling Professions (2018) is central to the philosophy, approach and operation of the programme, and all programme training staff agree to work within it. The Ethical Framework can be downloaded from www.bacp.co.uk.

Course Requirements

You will be attending 3 hours a week, over 15 weeks, totalling 45 guided learning hours. Throughout the course, you will need to complete written reflective journals, group discussions and small skills practice. All learners will have their own online profile on our Moodle site, where they will find resources and can submit their work.

Entry Requirements

You will need to complete the following 2 Open University courses prior to starting this course. (As stated above)

You must have completed the CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (TC-L4) or the Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) equivalent consisting of a minimum of 420 Guided Learning Hours, in addition to appropriate pre-TC-L4 (or equivalent) training.
